Today at the CeBIT Australia 2013 conference in Sydney, I released the Australian Government Cloud Computing Policy v2.   The policy is an update of the Cloud Computing Strategic Direction Paper which AGIMO released in April 2011.

The update recognises that the cloud market in Australia has matured significantly in the last two years, and that there are now clearly opportunities for Government to make use of Cloud to achieve savings, greater agility and better business outcomes for its own IT needs and those that service the needs of citizens and businesses that interact with Government.

The paper is aligned with the National Cloud Computing Strategy, launched by Senator Conroy this morning, and the Australian Public Service ICT Strategy 2012-2015 released in October 2012 by David Tune, Secretary of the Department of Finance and Deregulation.

The new policy is available on Cloud Computing page of the AGIMO website.

The Cloud Framework referenced in the policy is supported by a series of Better Practice Guides that can also be found on the Cloud Computing page.

For further information contact the Cloud Computing Policy team at ictpolicy@finance.gov.au.
